CS2 config generator: .vcfg to autoexec.cfg

.vcfg in, autoexec.cfg out. Drop cs2_video.txt to see your in-game video settings here too.

Where CS2 keeps them

Steam\userdata\<account id>\730\local\cfg\

  • cs2_user_convars_0_slot0.vcfgyour settings
  • cs2_user_keys_0_slot0.vcfgyour binds
  • cs2_machine_convars.vcfgmachine-wide settings

<account id> is the short SteamID3 number, not your 17-digit SteamID64. If there is only one folder in userdata, that is the one.

If the files look out of date, open the console and run host_writeconfig. CS2 rewrites them from whatever is loaded right now.

Using the result

  1. 1. Save it as autoexec.cfg in Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg\.
  2. 2. Open the console and run exec autoexec.
  3. 3. The last line prints a confirmation, so you can tell at a glance whether it loaded.
